Advantages: Cheap and taste ok

Disadvantages: The different colours are not different flavours

Everyone on here is going to think I'm a sweet addict. It's true thought that I do like a nice bag of sweets but what I hate is paying a fortune for them, as most of the highly priced sweets do not take very long to eat at all and are definitely not good for you (not that I expect sweets to be). It was once again then Asda's sweets that I turned to when watching a film with the family. The bag in question that I selected from my secret stash (I buy them in bulk saves traipsing to the shops in the pouring rain) was Asda's mini jelly babies. The sweets were definitely worth the money but out of all the varieties I have tried have to be my least favourite.

The Mini Jelly Babies cost 38p a bag but can be bought on offer alongside any two other bags for £1. The bag itself is a very fun orange and has mini jelly babies writing on it in wobbly, multi-coloured bubble writing. The front of the bag also tells us that the sweets inside are free from artificial colours and flavourings, which is always a bonus. The back as usual contains all the nutritional information you could need. I will discuss this later...

When opened you are greeted with a fruity sweet smell, which is very enticing. The jelly babies themselves look like every other brand of jelly babies and are thinly coated in the common powdery substance. My pack contained 18 jelly babies (fruit flavoured jelly sweets) in 5 different colours: orange, red, purple, black and green. This is however were the disappointment creeps in, as I'm afraid that I couldn't really tell the difference between the sweets when I tasted them. To me they all tasted the same. Now don't get me wrong they tasted very nice; very fruity and refreshing but I was expecting them to have different fruit tastes, which I don't really believe they do.

Despite my disappointment however I would still recommend these sweets, as for the price they are still good. The bag is just the right size to be concealed in a handbag and is brilliant for small children. Furthermore the sweets aren't going to bleed you dry and are free of artificial nastiness and fat content. However if you buy them expecting them, like I did, to taste different depending on their colour I'm afraid you, again like me, will be disappointment. If you just want a little treat of something to cure that sweet tooth then these are perfect.

Summary: An Asda brand sweet that I is nice but that I wouldn't necessarily choose too often
