Advantages: a nice treat to share with the kids (if they'll let you)

Disadvantages: a lot of sugar

I remember these sweets from my childhood, I have not had them for a good few years and thought that my daughter picking them out was the perfect excuse to buy them again when we where shopping together in Asda.

They are Asda's own brand, they cost 37p for a 75g bag which contains around 20 sweets. They also seem to be on a constant offer of 3 packs for one pound, you can mix and match these with other similar bags of sweets, eg, white mice or flying saucers (another blast from the past).

The packaging is a a thick plastic pack that is crimped sealed at each end. When trying to open the pack, I tried to pinch open the bag, like I would with a bag of crisps, but it proved to be difficult, if I tried harder the sweets would probably have ended up all over the floor, so I found it easier to open the bag by cutting a corner off with scissors.

The sweets are pink and white shaped mushrooms and quite squishy to touch. The smell is quite overpowering the second the bag is opened and the raspberry smell makes them more appealing. The sweets are nice, juicy and tasty, soft and chewy but not gooey. I think that they are quite sweet though and too many would be sickly.

347 kcals
75g sugar
0.2g fat
0.05g salt

These sweets contain no artificial colours or flavours.

Overall I think these are a nice treat to share and worth the 37p. Give them a try.
