Asdas Passatta is a great addition to all kinds of our regular meals, we use it in our home made lasagne, I also make pasta sauce out of it. It is basically tomato puree watered down and is a good starting ingredient for many a dish. Introduction --------------- Since i have been at university, i have been looking for all the different ways that you can possibly make pasta that little more interesting on a fairly low budget. Fortunately, with the finding of ASDA's passata range, you cannot really go wrong. The product --------------- Asda have a variety of different passata's which are all basically the same just in different packaging. Its basically dependant on what your after, if your using it all in one go, buy the box, if your not, buy the bottle. Simple. Anyway, it is a really good product to add to pasta to make a delicious pasta ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Passata: Decent passata for 42p. Why pay more? (274 words)

Passata is a pure, smooth sauce consisting of tomatoes which are sieved. Passata can be used for varied dishes, as the basic component of tomato soup, bolognese sauce, stir fry , pizza sauce or chicken tikka. Passata also works really well with seafood. I normally buy supermarket own brand passata in Asda, Lidl, Aldi etc. This passata costs £0.42 (8.4p per 100g) and is only available in Asda stores as it is their own range. Sauce has a great, deep flavour and is never watery or too thick. Passata has a wonderful creamy texture and bright, red colour. It tastes and smells like fresh tomato. This product definitely saves time on sieving as it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review My flexible store cupboard friend . (295 words)

Passata is one of those wonderful products to keep in the back of your cupboard until you feel creative, and then make some lovely food . Passata is essentially just sieved tomato . Unlike your tinned tomatoes, you won't find any chunks in this - its a thickish smooth tomato sauce, on it's own pretty bland, but you can make all manner of things with it - it can replace tinned tomato in any dish, or with the addition of some spices, some worcestershire sauce and a generous slug of vodka, can make a very passable bloody mary . The packaging is pretty simple - a foil lines tetra pack complete with lift and snip flaps at the end to make it convenient ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Passata: Saucy! (207 words)

Asda Passata - 500gm tetra pack, on average around 42p per pack. Passata is up there with the top ten store cupboard items for me. Whilst tinned tomatoes have their place, they are often bitter or sour. Passsata is the sweeter, more flavourful alternative. Traditional Italian sieved tomatoes are the main ingredient in the pack with a content of 99%, the other addition being citric acid. This is fantastic; so many other ranges contain high levels of salt. Obviously suitable for vegetarians, a quarter of the pack contains one of your five a day, always a good thing. I use passata in all manner of dishes, from the humble spag ...  Read the complete review
