Advantages: Tasty and good value for money
Disadvantages: The waterfill line isn't very clear, small selection of flavours
Asda Pasta Snack Pot were on offer at 3 for £1.50 when I bought these (I think that this is a standard offer in Asda and not a special offer) and thought I would try them as an alternative to Pot Noodle.
The first one that I tried was the Chicken and Mushroom version I also bought the Tomato and Herb version. The first difference between these and the other brands of pasta based quick meals is the selection of flavours but don't let this deter you.
The instructions on the pot tell you to fill the pot with boiling water up to the line, stir and recover with the lid for 5 mintues. The line isn't very clear and there is nothing to say fill here so I just guessed as to where this was when I made the pot.
After you have waited the 5 minutes you have to re-stir the pot and then eat. The sauce itself is very thick and you can see the dried mushroom pieces very clearly in the sauce. The pasta itself had clearly changed from the dried mix you started with to "cooked" pasta.
The flavour of the snack was very nice but I did find some of the pasta was still a little but crunchy but this could be down to the fact that I had to guess where the line was when I first put the water in the pot and not down to the quality of the product itself.
Overall I was pleasantly suprised by the taste and quality of this pot and was a nice change from the normal pot noddle that I have occassionally when I don't have time to make lunch for work the next day. I am willing to try the other pots that I have bought and will try putting more water in these to see if that cooks all the pasta.
For £1.50 for 3 these are good value for money and make a quick snack and do seem to pack a bit more flavour than other brands in the pasta/noodle snack section.
Summary: Good value for money and tasty would recommend but not many flavours to choose from
