... wierd like that) and I never knead for more than 2-3 minutes - the dough doesn't seem to suffer though I expect if you can be bothered to go for the full 5 your dough may be slightly smoother. Roll your dough out to roughly the right size and place on your greased tray (I like to grease with a little Olive oil). Next you cover the dough and leave to rise in a warm place (the oven, preheated then turned off works well) for about 10 minutes. Now, I like my pizza bases thin so I don't bother with this step anymore a...more

I use this, or the Tesco version (there's little difference) on pretty much a weekly basis. I love a nice homemade pizza but don't have time to make the dough totally from scratch - however I am yet to find a ready made pizza base that I like, so this is a happy compromise. ~~~What you get~~~ A box of this mix costs around 50p (in either supermarket) and contains 2 sachets of Pizza Base Mix. Each apparently enough to make an 8 inch round pizza (I use a small rectangular tray) though I imagine you could make a bigger pizza with it and just have a thinner base. ~~~How to make it~~~ Simply empty a sachet into a large bowl and mix in (with a ...  Read the complete review

My son decided he wanted to make a pizza for dinner last night, we really didn't have time to start a dough from scratch, so we popped into Asda to pick up for of their dough mix. The concept is simple, in the box there are two sachets with all the ingredients you'll need except water in the sachet. Each sachet is enough to make two 20cm pizzas. Nutritional Details Per 1/4 base Energy 165kcal Protein 6.0g Carbohydrate 31.0g Fat 1.9g Fibre 2.4g Sodium 0.24g My Thoughts Apart from buying a ready made base, this has to be the simplest way to make a pizza base. All you need to do is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Pizza Base Mix: Cheap and Easy Pizza Mix! (390 words)

Asda Pizza Base Mix: I love making fresh pizzas from scratch but to be honest I can't always be bothered and activating the yeast doesn't always work me so I thought I would try the Asda pizza base mix so I could whip up some fresh pizzas at a moments notice. The mixes are really cheap at only 55p for a box that contains enough mix for two 8" pizza bases. To make the mix is easy; simply pour the mix into the bowl, (there are two individual packets), add some water, mix, knead, shape and leave to rise. The whole process only takes about 15 minutes all told. I have to say that I prefer "thin and crispy" type pizzas so these make two ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I knead a catchy title ... (408 words)

I love cooking, but it often means that while I'm slaving away in the kitchen, my little demon is running around the house creating mess and chaos anywhere her little foot falls. So, I've started involving her in cooking a bit more - obviously some things she can't help with, but with pizzas, she definately can . She loves nothing more than to tear up pieces of ham, or spread tuna onto her pizza, and the best bit is, since she made it, she eats it . Now, when shopping at Asda, you have a couple of choices for bases . If your store has a create your own pizza section, you can buy bases from there - however, they only have a two or three day life, so unless ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Pizza Base Mix: The quickest pizza dough! (433 words)

Asda Pizza Base Mix 290g The most famous recipe of pizza dough is the basic one which contains flour, water, yeast, sugar and salt. Everybody knows how to make it, and gives a good result every time especially if some olive oil is added, but it takes time. What do I do if I want a pizza dough in a hurry? Well, you can use a cup of flour, 2/3 cup of milk, one egg and a pinch of salt to have a pizza base very quickly, but this one does not taste the same like the one we are used to. So, what is the alternative? You can buy Napolina Authentic Italian Pizza Bases, but these are not cheap and they don't have a long shelf life. Or, you can keep ...  Read the complete review
