My shopping budget can be a little stretched at times due to working part-time so when I wanted to treat my partner to a nice little pudding I'd spotted and realised I needed custard to round it off nicely I brought a sachet of this and decided to make it up myself. I paid 7p for a 76g sachet of instant custard powder which is provided in a hard paper style packet with the usual green & white smartprice colour scheme making it fairly easily identifiable on the supermarket shelves. This was a very cheap price and is definitely what attracted me to buying the product. To make this custard up I simply tore open the packet and added the fine ... Read the complete review

At 7p for a 76 gram sachet, this is a cheap product. Custard is one of those things that will go with all sorts of stuff, and I have to say I am quite content to eat it on its own anyway. In terms of powder, you're looking at a fine, dust-like substance to which you add boiling hot water and stir. The result is custard! So, the packaging is basic, but you expect that. When you tear the packet open, dust comes out (it's just so fine), but it's a little sad to see it's only half-full. Never mind, you plug on and pour the yellow dust into a bowl or jug, which sends it flying through the air unless you do it VERY slowly and gently. Stirring ... Read the complete review

A few weeks a go I bought a bag of instant custard powder from Sainsburys for 7p. It was really nice and I was surprised at how tasty it was on it's own. When I did an online Asda shop I decided that I'd add a sachet of this to my list as it couldn't be much dofferent to the Sainsburys version but how wrong was I? The custard comes in powder form in a little packet that is only half full. For just 7p you get 76g of the custard. The packet is very easy to open as it involves just ripping the top of the sachet. The instructions on the back of the packet tells me to add 3/4 of a pint of boiling water to the powder. I then had to stir for a minute or ... Read the complete review

I get through lots of this instant custard a month, and I find it one of the cheapest products on the market to buy at the moment. You can purchase a 76g packet of this custard at present for the amazing bargain price of .....wait for it......7p, yes you read it right!!! The packet comes in the usual asda smart price packaging, which is a basic green and white colouring which is simply done. A little different than the one pictured above. The taste of the custard is better than I thought it would be when I first tried it, it is not as good as better branded custard powder but for 7p it is a great product. You just add hot water to it so ... Read the complete review

One of the items that seems to be eaten a fair bit on my house is custard. Whether it be the perfect compliment to a hot apple pie, a layer on a homemade trifle or simply a dessert on it's own I do have to keep a small supply in the cupboard for everyday use. I have to be honest I am what some people may term as a bargain whore, this being someone who will buy anything to save a few pennies, never staying faithful to certain products, well I do to some products, but this is not one of them! The product I will now review is - "Smartprice instant custard mix" This custard comes as most custards do, in a paper pack, the sort that ... Read the complete review
