Premium Review Asda's Strawberry Trifle: Almost as good as home made! (751 words)

At the weekend I just fancied something sweet - yes, I know I am a diabetic but my blood sugar is finally under good control and I had been working hard all day selling lifeboat souvenirs on the prom here in Llandudno! That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Anyway Dave popped out to Asda and came back with one of their strawberry trifles for us to share. The Cost The trifle was a 600g one and cost just £1.74 and I doubt that I could have made one for that price, especially when you factor in the amount of time it would have taken me. More often than not we have an Adsa Fruit Cocktail trifle, but there ...  Read the complete review

Overall the trifle was rather delicate and soft, the cream was whipped into shape and rather tasty, then came the custard, very nice 9/10 abit sickly but good quality. But the main problem with Asda's Strawberry Trifle is the spongey bit. It completely spoils the eating experiance and turns a delicious desert into a disasterous one. The sponge was airy and dry and i only like sponge with no air. I am not an expert on cooking although my brother has a GCSE in food technology and he believes that i have a valid point when saying that the sponge is a bad point of a traditional British pudding. I would urge Asda to think about ...  Read the complete review
