Advantages: Cheap, Filling, Tasty

Disadvantages: None

I do not shop at Asda very often as I have so many other shops and supermarkets a lot closer to me. In fact some ways you could say I am spoilt with the competition. However reading more and more reviews, today I decided to give them a go.

I am due to go on my hols on Thursday so we have been quite busy getting all our stuff together in our cases. I have also had to do a lot of running around finishing bits off and getting holiday money etc. For this reason myself and my wife decided that for last night, tonight and tomorrow night, we would live on beans on toast, with sausages. Last night I bought my beans from Netto, today I bought a tin of Smart Price beans from Asda. My experience follows.

The tin cost me a mere 29p for 420g which I was extremely happy with. The tins cover was very basic, but I wasn't eating that so I wasn't too worried. I then purchased the item and brought it home.

Upon opening the tin, I immediately noticed that the beans had settled a bit in transit and that there was actually a couple of centimetres of tomato sauce at the top. So much so I decided to drain a bit off. The beans also appeared to be a lot smaller than some of the more expensive beans I had bought - were all the bigger ones kept for the more expensive tins I asked myself. After heating the beans in the pan for about 5 mins I poured them over my toast and added a couple of hot dog sausages. Well what about the beans? They were absolutely delicious. Other than the size I wouldn't have known this was a cheap tin of beans. They were very soft. The sauce was also very tasty and was neither spicy or plain. It really was like tomato sauce should be.

It's annoying when you have to pour off excess bean juice :)
