I do not know what it is about baked beans but I can always tell the difference... between beans. Firstly I am a sucker for packaging and the Asda packaging really puts me off, it reminds me of a rationed food that would only be available in a russian storage bunker to the homeless victims of the pending nuclear holocaust... ... Beans - used to meanz Heinz. However the price of baked beans in a tin (Especially branded versions have shot up at an alarming rate. Through my credit crunching research I have come across Smart Price Baked Beans from ASDA. The packaging is not as sexy as the big brands, the tins are often on the bottom shelf and they are not advertised ... Read the complete review

Asda Smart Price Baked Beans tast and look like any other baked beans. I started to eat them as a child and have always loved them. The only down side to Asda Smart Price Baked Beans is that you get the odd "hard bean" once they have been cooked. These beans are a great side dish to most meals and tast great with fish and ... I do not shop at Asda very often as I have so many other shops and supermarkets a lot closer to me. In fact some ways you could say I am spoilt with the competition. However reading more and more reviews, today I decided to give them a go. I am due to go on my hols on Thursday so we have been quite busy getting all our stuff together ... Read the complete review

A bean is a bean, what more could you ask of a product. Well in the case of SmartPrice beans, very little more. There's nothing I can really say against these beans. Firstly the price, well you can't go wrong there, at the moment they're 28p compared to 64p for Heinz and even 48p for Asda's own brand, so you're almost getting 2 for ... Read the complete review

Asda Smart Price beans are easy to spot because they don't have quite the same standard of exciting packaging that the other brands, such as heinz or branston do have. Having said this, and being quite a fan of the Heinz baked bean, these aren't too bad and I find them to be the best of all the supermarket budget ranges. One tin costs ... Read the complete review

Smart price baked beans in tomato sauce is in a 420g tin for 29p (I say this has gone up over the last couple of months but then has every other shop brand) As a big fan of cheap dinners for my family these are must in my house, I have tried other value beans and they taste like cheap beans hard and the sauce is more like flavoured water ... Many years ago when 'no frills' products first started making an appearance on our shelves, my family used to buy budget baked beans from most supermarkets where they were available. I remember that they used to cost as little as 9-15p at that time! However I got completely put off them when for whatever reason, every tin of budget baked beans we ... Read the complete review

If you have read any of my previous reviews you will know I love a bargain and love trying to reduce my monthly grocery shopping budget, hence my review now for asda smart price baked beans. The beans themselves come in a tin with the basic green and white labeling as with all the asda basic range which is a little different from the ... Read the complete review

In my hunt for a bargain, I've tried pretty much everything in the 'supermarket's own' brand offerings, including baked beans. A baked bean seems to be such a simple product, but the results vary massively between supermarket. There's something so 'budget' about baked beans, that you feel a bit like a pauper for even eating them, let alone buying ... Read the complete review

A can of these beans was purchased for 29p on our latest trip to Asda. The main reason for this purchase was to save money and to try something different (partly for reviewing purposes!). This is an aluminium can (which can be recycled) with a paper label showing the smartprice logo, a plate of beans on toast and the relevant ... Read the complete review

well as with all smartprice products you get what you pay for so as far as im concerned for the price its is an amazing value product and it tastes good to.Ithink the packaging puts people off sometimes its very plain to look at but again for the money you cant expect manufactures to spend a great deal on the packaging.i suppose as the saying ... so you think beans are beans are beans, well ever considered you could be wrong, some beans are worth their beans. Smart price are not just great on the pocket, but have a superb tasting sauce, which even the top brands find hard to match, there really is no need to pay top price for something as good as Smart price Baked beans, just compare the ... I use to always be a little bit of a snob when it comes to beans - when i lived at home we use to only have Heniz in the cupboard and when i eventually moved out i continue to buy heniz i couldnt do any other brand. Then one month when i'd been living on my own a while and the only substanstil thing i would eat was beans - was also ... Read the complete review

I love baked beans. I am a bean freak!! You cannot beat Heinz and I'm quite sure at 14p a can Asda are not trying to do this. My opinion of these beans is that there is too much sauce and not enough beans. Asda have obviously watered it down. It is a 420g tin. When you open the tin with a tin opener the top inch is mainly bean juice. ... Read the complete review

I usually buy my baked beans in Tesco but recently we were Yeovil and it occured to me that Asda was near by and we hadnt visited there for a while so off we went. I'm not a brand name buyer. I don't understand why anyone would pay over the odds for something that you can get for much, much cheaper. This is especially the case when it comes to beans. My mum will only buy Heinz and Im not judging her for that but when these beans cost just 20p a tin why bother. I feel like I'm repeating my self but this ... Read the complete review

I've never really understood what the difference in brands of baked beans is - they all taste the same to me! I even have a friend who will quite happily buy own branded and economy branded everything but if it's a tomato based food e.g. beans, she will only buy Heinz. I've never been able to comprehend this and I would defy anyone to actually ... Read the complete review

Im on a economy drive at the moment so im getting to try loads of own supermarket brands to try at the moment. Baked beans belong in every household, you can guarantee when we have no other food in the house we still have a good few tins of baked beans. What other food could you buy for 20p that could fill you up and have with a variety of meals, my sons favourite is beans on toast, I personally am quite partial to them with a jacket ...
