Advantages: The price, 4 for 32p

Disadvantages: Cheap taste, not creamy, dark and bitter

Being a student with a sweet tooth : a cheap treat is a luxury in my books.
Whilst ordering for my shopping online (I don't have a car), I decided to treat myself on some non essential food, as it was so cheap and from the economy range!

Amongst some other sweet value treats (which I will also review in the future) I bought a four pack of the Asda Smartprice Chocolate Mousse which cost me just 32p! A bargain.

Obviously the packaging wasn't amazingly pretty - the standard white and green signature colours with the text and a small image of a broken chocolate cube. I found that the actual cartons holding the mousse were not very sturdy and when holding one by the body of the carton my hand easily squashed it. The wrapper on the top had a foil in lay but was very thin, so be careful to not drop them. I wouldn't be surprised if it had spilt open had I leant something against it in the fridge or dropped them.
It was good that there was foil on the inside to keep it fresh.

The basic information is printed on the lid of one of the mousses - ingredients, nutrition, best before and contacts.

Each mousse contains 60g of mousse - so a pretty decent amount, not a stingy fromage frais amount.

However, when tasting the product I wasn't particularly overwhelmed, it was darker brown than many other mousses I have had before, the texture was almost powdery. The taste was far from creamy and rather bitter. I wouldn't describe it as a moist mousse. Though light and airy the chocolate was bitter and strange tasting. Even the colour lacked creaminess.

I wasn't overly impressed and I wouldn't buy them again despite the cheap price. I would say I would go for the next brand up. Though I wasn't expecting miracles I was expecting something at least a little tasty even if the packaging wasn't going to be great.

Summary: Wouldn't recommend

yeah they weren't up to much - I would've liked my review to be longer as it looks short but there wasn't really much to say when considering them - the packaging is simple and the taste is cheap! haha.
