My little boy doesn't like school dinners very much. He loves his food at home and is quite open to trying new flavours. However when it comes to school meals he will just sit at the table with the other children and not eat. His teacher called me into class one day last year. She basically told me i was wasting my money. as he just didnt like the way the food was cooked. I must admit this did make me smile to myself a little, hes only 5 and hes commenting on the school caterers cooking abilites. maybe ive got a little Jamie Oliver on my hands!! The teacher suggested I made him a packed lunch everyday and although I am not really happy that he is ... Read the complete review

I like to try and save money wherever possible so decided to give this 'Smartprice' Cooked ham a try in the place of my normal more expensive ham to save myself around £1.50. There are 30 or so slices of reformed ham that has been cooked and cured with added water. There is 78% pork in each slice which is obviously less than I'd like but not bad for such a cheap product. Per 100g there are 93 calories and 2.6g of fat so is pretty good if you are watching your waistline, however, there is 1.8g of salt so this should still be enjoyed in moderation. The packet is fairly tough plastic and I found the only way to get inside the packet was just to slice ... Read the complete review

In my home we are a big fan of dinners like ham, egg and chips and for that my Mum gets premium ham slices from the butchers and I'm not allowed to touch that stuff! I'm banned from using it for sandwiches as I love nothing more than a ham and tomato sauce sarnie! My Mum always buys me a pack of a ham in our weekly shopping just for me to eat as I wish and last week this one came. I was less than impressed, it being an economy brand I can tell you and I had a few words to say about it to which my Mother simply replied like it or lump it...I turned out to quite like it actually lol. The Packaging: Square see through plastic container with a peel back ... Read the complete review

I think there is some sort of mini revolt going on in my house at present. All my valiant attempts to save a few quid on the weekly shopping are being rejected one by one. Last week was the budget Fromage Frais from Tesco. This week is the turn of Asda Smart Price cooked ham. Now I have nothing against Asda, in fact I think it is a perfectly good supermarket. In fact, their fruit and veg is probably the best of all the mid range supermarkets in my opinion. I shop there occasionally; not being my local, it tends to be when I am passing that way. So a few weeks ago while passing that way, I popped in and picked up some Asda Smart Price cooked ham. I ... Read the complete review

I'm pretty boring when it comes to lunches and tend to have a ham sandwich everyday. It comes in two sizes and these are 125g for 54p and 400g for £1.65. The ham is described as 'wafer thin' and it recommends that you eat it within two days of opening. On opening the ham its plain to see that this is far from the stuff that you buy on any deli. It's square in shape but the edges have been rounded off and it doesn't have any resounding smell radiating from it. The ham is slimy to touch but because it's so thin there isn't any 'rubbery' effect to it which is a bonus because when I first bought it, that's what I expected. The ham has a nice ...
