I use a lot of different curry pastes and curry sauces and this is what led to my son pointing out to me that the Asda smart price curry sauce is very good and also very inexpensive and that I should try some, however once in Asda and seeing that the sauce was only 7p I was sure this was going to be one of my sons cruel practical jokes and I could hear him now chuckling down the phone as he asked what I had thought of the sauce. As it was only 7p I decided there was nothing to lose and I would try a jar and see what it was like and to my surprise this sauce was very nice, granted it had a bit more of a raw nip to it than the more cultured brand names that tend ... Being a student again thought me to take some risks in the kitchen I wouldn't take if I would work full time; sometimes it was definitely worth the risk like the delicious Smartprice crumpets for 6 pence each - sometimes it was a huge waste of money as with the Smartprice minced meat which ended in the bin instead of on our plates. A huge jar of curry sauce for astonishing 4 pence , yes it's really 4 pence you can trust your eyes, sounds quite risky for my taste buds but certainly affordable for my wallet, in the end loosing 4 pence is not going to make me much poorer. I bought one jar of the ASDA Smartrice Curry Cooking sauce and a pack of Chinese ... Read the complete review

My husband went to asdas the other week and instead of buying my usual sharwood curry sauce came home with this one. I wasnt very impressed with him but i have to say I was very impressed with the sauce!! The packaging The packaging is not very impressive,It doesnt exactly make you salivate over how its going to taste. But then again packaging is not really something that comes high on my priority list when it comes to food, as its only going to end up in the recycling anyway. I suppose if you are a bit of a food snob, then you may not want people to see smartprice jars or tins in your cupboards, as they do scream out economy value!! The sauce ... Read the complete review

Having read some good reviews for the Asda Smart Price jar of Curry Sauce on Dooyoo, I was intrigued about trying it out for myself, and so I picked up a jar of it whilst I was in my local Asda supermarket recently. Paying only 5 pence for the generous sized jar, which is 440g, I did really think that this was a great price but if I am being honest, I was a bit sceptical about how nice this product would be. My partner is not particularly fussy when it comes to food like this, but I on the other hand am quite wary about ready-made sauces, especially those that are on the cheaper end of the market! I did decide I would give it a go, however and we ... Read the complete review

After having another supermarket value brand of curry sauce recommended to me and enjoying it, when I saw this Asda Smartprice version was available forn just 5p I decided to give it a whirl. Yes that is right - just 5p for a 440g jar of curry cooking sauce!!! The packaging is simple yet more than adequate, a glass jar with a 'pop' cap on and a simple Asda Smartprice label, naming the product. When opening the jar I am met with a chip shop curry sauce smell, a bit fruity but with spice definitely evident. The colour of the sauce is almost a tan - brown. There is the odd sultana bobbing around! I used this to make a chicken curry and ... Read the complete review
