Advantages: Great price, nice biscuit, dunks in my tea well, lots in a packet.

Disadvantages: Could do with more vanilla flavouring.

Custard Creams are two layers of biscuit with a cream layer in the middle and although they are called custard creams they generally taste more of vanilla than anything else and these Asda Smartprice custard creams are indeed custard creams in appearance but slightly lacking in vanilla flavouring and just have a standard biscuit flavour to them. There are many biscuits in this 400g packet and for just 30p they are a bargain for any biscuit barrel. The biscuit layers are lovely and crunchy with an intricate pattern etched on to them and they are cream in colour. The cream inside is almost yellow and looks quite inviting. I love to break these biscuits in half and then eat the cream out of them first or give them a dunk in my tea and I must confess to eating 5 or 6 of these at a time because they are so yummy.

The biscuits hold up very well after a second or two of dunking in red hot tea and they take on a completely different taste that is lovely and soft whilst still remaining crunchy. I believe that these custard creams taste just as nice as any other value packet available on the market and I would recommend them for any biscuit barrel. There are 64 calories and 2.7g of fat per biscuit so these are fairly high in fat but as long as you enjoy them in moderation you should be just fine. I am rating this biscuits 4/5 and have knocked off one star because I would have liked a slightly stronger flavour to the biscuit.

Summary: A nice custard cream at a reasonable price.
