Advantages: cheap, don't go soggy when dunking in drink

Disadvantages: taste,

Let's be honest here. Along with the Bourbon, Custard Creams are the devils biscuits. Unfortunately I have Grandparents who thrust them into my face whenever I go round and I really have no other option than to eat them, washing them down quickly with a tepid cup of tea. Such special moments.

The Custard Cream is basically 2 small biscuits wedged together with a custard flavoured cream centre. Resembling a sandwich type look if you like. They also have a little swirly pattern on top as well. I'll give you that, in my opinion they do look quite sweet...for a biscuit.

The problem being is that are also very sweet, especially when you get to the custard bit. The funny thing is, it tastes nothing like custard. I'm not just singling out Asda's variety here. Not even the proper brands taste like it.

You can dunk these into your drink and they don't fall to pieces which is good considering that I've tried other more expensive packets which leave a load of mush at the bottom of your cup.

There isn't all that much cream in the centre but that is a bit of a bonus and the biscuit layers are very crunchy. This does have its benefits as it makes it easier for you to split the biscuit by taking the top or bottom off. If you do it carefully enough you should find that the cream will stick to one of the layers, leaving you with something to munch on without the sickly taste of the custard filling.

There is about 30 odd biscuits per pack and when it costs 34p from Asda I suppose for the lovers of these they are worthwhile. You couldn't really mistake these from the other brands as they are plainly the supermarket cheap alternative. With a white packaging and no photos of what you're about to eat it pretty obvious what you're going to be getting.

There's about 61 calories per biccy so as long as you don't eat too many of them, in moderation I think is the correct term, it'll be fine.

If you don't finish the packet in one sitting then you should store them away in a 'cool dry place' The only thing worse than a custard cream, is a soft one. It actually says on the back, 'Try me, You'll love me or your money back' so in theory I should have a few quid in my purse by now.

These are a not biscuit I enjoy eating and I can't deter you enough from buying them. Over the years I have had a wide selection of them and to be frank they all taste the same. So if you like custard creams then just go for these cheaper options. You're only paying for a name really if you opt for the pricey ones.
