... standard size and they are round in shape. They are lovely and crunchy and crumbly and they are made from wheat flour. I personally find these to taste just like any other digestive really, particularly when they are dunked in my tea or crushed up as the base of a cheesecake. These may be cheap biscuits but when I throw them in to my biscuit barrel with a mixture of other biscuits I never get any complaints from the nieces and nephews when they visit! These don't look cheap once they are out of the packet although ...more

Premium Review Asda Smart Price Digestive Biscuits: Digestives At A Smart Price! (379 words)

Digestives are actually one of my favourite biscuits and I'm partial to a few of them whether or not they are covered in chocolate. It's quite unusual for me to like a biscuit without some sort of chocolate or chocolate/caramel combination smothered over the top but I love these just as they are . In Asda I can purchase a 400g packet of Digestive Biscuits from the 'Smartprice' Range for just 31p and this is only 1p per 100g cheaper than the chocolate covered ones so I chose these purely because I like them rather than for the price. The biscuits appear to be a pretty standard size and they are round in shape. They are lovely and crunchy and crumbly ...  Read the complete review

Sainsburys have proven themselves in the digestive biscuit realm, so how would Asda fare? As a young boy, I often had to stay with my aunty who had a cool looking biscuit jar, but all it was filled with was digestives. It used to drive me crazy, and I would rather go without than take them. These days, I'm not much different when it comes to a biscuit for dunking into a brew, but for bases on cheesecakes, or eating with some cheese, you can't beat them. A digestive biscuit is so called because it was at first believed they helped you with your digestion, but this was later proven to be untrue! Anyway, what are they? They are made of coarse brown ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smart Price Digestive Biscuits: The worst digestive I've tasted! (407 words)

I made a cheesecake a couple of weeks a go and one of the ingredients I needed was some digestive biscuits. I wasn't about to pay for a full priced packet of the Mcvities variety so I picked up these instead. They cost 38p for a 400g pack. The biscuits are quite small compared to the brand name but at the rate I eat things like this it really doesn't matter to me. Personally I'm not a dunker as I don't drink tea or coffee and if I try to use my hubby's hot drink then he moans that I leave it in too long and he doesn't want to end up with a load of sludge in the bottom of his mug. The biscuits are a nice brown colour and look as though they have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dunkable Digestives.. (505 words)

We all enjoy a good cuppa or mug of coffee at pretty much any time of the day I guess, just recently as I am saving cash and my usual biscuits were not coming up to standard in my drink I thought it was time to have a change, normal McVities Digestives are now half fat which I agree is good for us.. They are far too thin to dunk in your drink though!! So I had to look for a decent alternative that wouldn't break the bank when I got to the checkout.. ~ What do these biscuits look like? ~ If you take a wander down the biscuit aisle, obviously they are in with the other digestives..! In a classic red packaging with 'Asda' and 'digestives' ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smart Price Digestive Biscuits: The healthiest of the lowest branded digestive biscuits (382 words)

These digestives are lighter in colour than the leading brand and less crumbly. They are packaged in the usual Smart Price white and green packaging, which makes reading the ingredients and dietary information a little hard on the eyes, particularly when green writing is printed on a slightly lighter green brand. Larger print would be appreciated in this instance. There is no 'tear here' or 'open here' band so the packaging has to be opened with a sharp knife or nimble fingers. It's simple additions like the 'tear here' strip that separate the cheapies from their labelled rivals. These biscuits are less crumbly than similar biscuits so would make poor ...  Read the complete review
