**** Introduction **** While doing my weekly shop this evening, I made the mistake of going while I was peckish, which therefore resulted in me filling the trolley full of junk food. While looking for nice goodies to eat I came across these Ginger Nut biscuits, as I had not eaten these for years I knew I had to have them. Once I got home I made a nice hot cup of tea and settled down with a new bought packet of biscuits. ***** The Biscuits ***** These ginger nuts are from the Asda value range and cost 36p a packet, which is very reasonable as the branded ginger nuts cost well over twice the price. Anyway ... Read the complete review

While I was in Asda the other day, I suddenly had a craving for biscuits. Asda have a lot of biscuits in their Smart Price range so I thought I would give them a go and as I haven't had Ginger Nuts for years I snapped the packet up. The Asda Smart Price range is very distinctive, with nearly all the packaging following the same format. In this case, the packaging is a long tubular shape, with the traditional green and white colours on the wrapper and lettering. The Smart Price wording is written in black but this is hardly necessary because you know the range when you see it anyway. "Ginger Nuts" is written prominently and is accompanied by the green ... My other half can demolish a packet of biscuits in one sitting and therefore I fight a constant battle to keep the biscuit tin from being empty - to be fair to him he is a marathon runner and therefore burns all the excess calories off, I know for a fact if I ate as many biscuits as he does I would be in serious trouble! Anyway, I have been trialing the Asda Smart Price versions of some of his favourites just to see if they are as good because they are a lot cheaper than the next brand up. These ginger nuts, for instance, are a remarkable 34p per packet and the next brand up is 68p so exactly double the price. The packet contains around 16 biscuits ... Read the complete review

I mentioned in a previous review I have started eating Ginger Nut biscuits in volume. In order to keep my spending low I have been purchasing Ginger Nuts from the supermarkets own value brands in order to save the pennies. It had been a good experience so far ... until I tried Asda Smartprice Ginger Nuts...... ***Packaging*** The packaging is very plain as you would expect from a value range so not the most appealing to have on display in your cupboards. The packaging is branded in the same way as all of the other Asda Smartprice range, white packaging with a green stripe and green font written on the front of the biscuit packet. ... I love ginger nut biscuits, and I eat a lot of them so I fancy myself as a bit of a connoisseur! I don't like them to be too strong or gingery though, so I tend to avoid McVities Ginger Nuts, which have a bit too much flavour in them for my liking and make my throat tickle! They are also too expensive, so I normally buy Asda's own brand Ginger Nuts. They taste lovely, with a strong, snappy texture and a decent amount of ginger, but not enough to make me gag. However, when I went to Asda the other day, I found that they were out of stock. I thought therefore that I would try Asda Smart Price Ginger Nuts instead, assuming they wouldn't be very much different. I was ... Read the complete review
