Disadvantages: Really strong ginger taste and smell

Having had good experiences with both the smart price custard creams and bourbon biscuits, I decided that I would give the smart price ginger nuts a try.

They are 34p for a 300g pack, which equates to about 25 biscuits. From what I can gather from other products, part of the "smart price" range is that the biscuits are slightly smaller than you would get from buying their standard range. These are no exception, and although ginger nuts are not a particularly large biscuit, these are still marginally smaller than I would expect.

The main think I noticed when I opened the packet was the overwhelming smell of ginger. Obviously there is going to be some smell there, but these were much stronger than other brands. This also follows with the taste of these biscuits as they have a really strong flavour. The biscuits are crisp, but definately not as "hard" as the traditional ginger nuts, and this coupled with the taste and size made them something that I would not be keen to buy again.

On the whole, there is nothing particularly wrong with them, but I certainly wouldn't recommend them unless you really like a strong ginger taste
