Advantages: good price and great for chocolate lovers
Disadvantages: goes hard in the fridge
Asda smart price chocolate hazlenut spread is my daughters all time favourite sandwich filler, she has it all the time as a snack and in her packed lunch.
The jar I buy looks a little different from the one pictured above, mine has a basic green and white wrapper as with all Asda's basic range that I buy.
The chocolate spread is priced at 63p for a 400g jar which is a real bargain, especially for me as I get through loads of it. The top branded chocolate spreads can cost anywhere up to £2 which gives you an idea of the savings made from this.
Once the lid is removed there is a foil seal inside to keep it fresh which is the same as you get on a jar of coffee and it is easy to remove, you just break the seal and peal off the rest. The chocolate spread has a thick texture and they smell very similar to that of ferrero rocher, with that slight nutty smell. I find it very easy to spread onto bread and it covers the slice very well.
I have tried it myself but personally find it too sweet and sickly to eat but I am not a big chocolate lover anyway, but my daughter loves it.
The spread contains no artificial colours or flavours and no hydrogenated fat. The ingredients are sugar, vegetable oil, fat reduced cocoa powder, hazlenuts, sweet whey powder, natural flavouring.
The one thing I would suggest is that you make sure you keep it stored in the cupboard and not in the fridge as it turns too hard and impossible to get your knife into it let alone spread it on bread!!
Once I have finished with the jar I always wash it out and take it to the bottle bank where I always recycle all my household glass bottles and jars.
This is a great product and a very good price to boot, well worth giving it a go.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: great little spread.
