... cutting a long roll and putting the sausage inside with a good dollop of sauce. This is really an easy and convenient snack for the kids and one that they both thoroughly enjoy. I also use smart price hot dogs on bonfire night as they are so easy and very delicious especially with fried onions and sauce. the ultimate in comfort food. the sausages are of a good average size. they are not overly smokey or synthetic tasting. the sausage itself is very substantial and filling. The taste reminds me of when I was young a...more

Premium Review Asda Smart Price Hot Dogs: These dogs are lukewarm! (542 words)

There are days when I just don't have the time or the incilination to cook nutritious, cheap, healthy meals and sometimes I want to have a blow out without really going to mad on the calories. Nights like this call for Smartprice Hot Dogs in Wholemeal Buns with some low-fat cheese and healthy living ketchup. Smartprice Hot Dogs are provided in an aluminium can and come packaged in salty brine water which is ideal for pouring straight in to a pan and gently heating for a few minutes until the hotdogs are lovely and soft and tender whilst still having a slightly crisp, almost crunchy, outer 'skin. I normally find that I end up cooking mine for around 5 minutes ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review These dog's aren't so hot (533 words)

When I was a teenager, tinned hot dogs were a great favourite of mine . With my parents both working until quite late in the evening, it was usually up to me to make sure my brother and I both got something to eat, and hot dogs were so incredibly easy to make . As I got a little older, I started to favour the frankfurters you could get in a supermarket chiller cabinet over tinned hotdogs , and stopped eating the tinned ones completely, until a few years ago when I decided to try a tin of Ye Olde Oak hotdogs - which were awful! However, my daughter likes the tinned ones, ever since having them for dinner at a friends house - and if she likes them, I ...  Read the complete review

My kids love their hot dogs, but since they drown them in sauce I don't see the point in buying expensive ones. So when I saw these in Asda I thought I'd give them a go. Nutritional Information Energy 146kcal Protein 10.0g Carbohydrate 4.0g Fat 10.0g Sodium 0.55g All per 100g. There are 8 hotdogs in the tin, this is standard with hotdogs and I always find it strange that hotdog buns come in packs of 6 or 12! These particular hotdogs are made with 48% chicken and 5% pork, I was actually quite surprised by this, because I presumed hotdogs were mostly pork. I'm not sure why I thought ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review These dogs are hot (most of the time). (604 words)

Every now and again I really fancy hot dogs. Now my hubby loves a proper sausage in his hot but I much prefer these little ones instead. I'm not that keen on normal sausages and these always take me back to when I was in the girl guides because we'd eat them around the camp fire. These hot dogs are only available from Asda and you can pick up a tin of eight individual sausages for just 32p. There is something really nice about the smell of hot dog sausages. When you start to warm them the smell fills the whole kitchen and for some reason I love it. My hubby, on the other hand thinks they smell of dog meat which I can kind of understand. ...  Read the complete review

I love hot dogs. They can be so versatile when preparing a meal or even just ate on their own with a bit of red sauce. Due to my daughter loving hot dogs also, I find that I have to buy a good few tins with my monthly shop. A good few tins of the more expensive brand hot dogs can be very pricey so I decided to give the asda smart price ones a go. The description: The packaging for the asda smart price range is very basic indeed. The tin I have is actually different to the one pictured above as mine has green parts instead with a picture of a hotdog. All of the required information is in green on the back of the tin. The ...  Read the complete review
