Advantages: Cheap.

Disadvantages: poor quality and poor tasting.

I am sure everyone knows what a Jaffa Cake is, a light sponge base with an orange jelly disc and then a topping of dark chocolate, delicious.

That is as long as you stick to the McVities version, if you take to trying the cheaper versions you will always be disappointed.

At a friend's house recently I was presented with what looked like a Jaffa Cake but on closer inspection, it was smaller and not as neatly formed, she was happy to tell me that this was a Smart price Jaffa Cake from Asda and she did not see any point in paying twice the price for the McVities ones.

After tasting these I see every point in splashing out on the McVities ones, the sponge base on these is dry and the orange jelly centre is very zesty and slightly crumbly rather than being suck-able or chewy and the chocolate is just nowhere near as nice.

These were a real let down for me and even though they are only 62p for 12 (50p just now as they are on roll back) instead of the typical £1.09 for the Mcviites ones I will never ever be tempted to change.

Summary: It has got to be McVities!!
