Advantages: Cheap, Tastes as good as Ski or similar
Disadvantages: Low fruit content
This yogurt is available seperately for 9p or in a pack of 6 yogurts, consisting of 3 different flavours - Strawberry, Peach, and Black Cherry.
They are marketed as "low fat" and each 125g pot contains 98 calories and 0.9g of fat. They also contain no artifical colours, flavours or preservatives, and no hydrogenated fat. However when you check the ingredients you quickly find that the main ingredient is sugar and the yogurt itself is only 3.5% fruit.
As with most Asda Smart Price products, the packaging is plain and unattractive. Unlike the Tesco products which has pictures of fruit on the lid to make it more appealling.
Taste and texture-wise, I would say these are excellent for the money. Obviously compared to premium products they are nowhere near as creamy or thick, and don't contain anywhere near as much fruit. However, I have tried "Value" Yogurts from both Tesco and Morrisons and the Asda Smart Price ones are far superior. Both the other supermarket branded yogurts were not as thick as the Asda brand, although it seems they contained more fruit.
Overall, if I was buying yogurts I would always buy these. They represent excellent value for money and taste just as good as something from Ski or Danone - though they cannot compete with Co-Op Premium Own Brands in the taste and texture department. They are thicker than both the offerings from Morrisons and Tesco.
Summary: Excellent budget option
