I love all types of bread and pitta breads are no exception to this so I often keep a packet in the freezer especially for making ham and marmite toasted pittas which are just delicious with lashings of butter. These Smartprice pitta breads are available from Asda for 19p and for this price you will receive 6 pitta breads which is a very reasonable price and around 5p cheaper than similar pitta breads from similar supermarkets. The pitta breads are quite small in size but perfectly acceptable for such a bargain price. They have an almost grey colour to them and the texture is nothing special. There are no frills with this product and it's really ... Read the complete review

I often buy supermarket value ranges. I know they can be a bit hit and miss, but what I have found from 'basic' ranges is that the simplier the product is, the less difference there is from the more upmarket version. Chopped tomatos, for example, taste no different in value form than those that come branded because, esentially, they are tomatos chopped up. Well, I had the same opinion of these pitta breads before buying them, thinking that a pitta was a pitta so there couldnt possible be anything bad about the value version. I was wrong however. Ok, there are very cheap, costing about 40p for 6 individual breads. I tried them with some dip when i ... Read the complete review

In my mission to find 'The World's Best Pitta bread' a few weeks a go, I stumbled across these and to be perfectly honest, wish I didn't! They are from the Asda Smartprice range and cost me just 19p for six average sized white pittas. They were packaged in the usuall plastic see through wrapper and looked fairly normal as far as a pitta goes! I like to stuff my pittas full of salad and and other delights but when I tried to cut them with a knife they weren't very 'open' to the idea! They were so stuck together that the sole purpose that they are suppose to serve just wasn't possible. I tried cutting in various places and the knife slid through the ... Read the complete review

To be honest, when it comes to pitta bread I never really thought there was a huge amount of difference between brands. The ones I most frequently buy are from the Somerfield economy range, but I occasionally buy them from Lidl too and both of these brands are really nice. I didn't think twice then about ordering the Smart Price pitta breads from ASDA recently. The pitta breads come in a white and green packet, and you get 6 in a pack. The packaging is of course very basic, being an economy brand, however it's functional and has all the information you could need on there. When I first took the pitta breads out of the packet my first impression was ... Read the complete review

WOW 19p for six pitta's. You cant go wrong, can you? Wrong! I know that there isn't alot that you can purchase for 19p these days but I truly wouldnt waste my money on these again. The bland packaging follows through to the product itself. I was assuming that they were so cheap as they seemed really small. I really didn't believe that pitta bread could taste different from brand to brand. Although thinking about that now, breads do differ and I guess that these are no different. No matter which brand pitta I buy, I really dont like them unless theyre toasted and filled. I usually buy them to keep in the freezer as an ... Read the complete review
