Disadvantages: Dry, flavourless, don't respond well to tea

I usually buy Smart Price items whenever possible because in general the quality is indistinguishable from the normal Asda range and branded products. However, this is one of the few products I would suggest you don't downshift to.

On their own, without tea, they're unbearable. Horribly dry and flavourless. But I thought I'd cut them some slack, as everyone knows Rich Tea biscuits are terrible naked anyway.

So I dipped one in my tea, counted to four, and removed it. Strangely the biscuit was still hard. I had, through multiple experiments based on various brands of Rich Tea, come to the conclusion that with freshly made tea, four seconds is the optimal dipping time. So with these biscuits, throwing caution to the wind, I dipped them for slightly longer. Now they were soft enough, but still not quite right. The texture is too grainy, and they still taste dry, even when literally wet. And sadly, they're still flavourless.

I'll finish the pack, but I won't be buying these again. I think in this case it's worth spending the extra twenty pence for non-smart price biccies. Or, if there's one near you, head over to Tesco instead, their Value Rich Tea are not bad at all.

Summary: Buy Tesco Value instead, or upshift to Asda's normal range.
