Advantages: Cheap, quality product

Disadvantages: none

Tinned sweet corn has never really appealed to me and when I didn't have fresh corn on the cob to cook, I have always used frozen sweet corn kernels, but after trying the Asda Smartprice tinned version, I have changed my mind.

This corn is succulent and plump and the 325g can is packed to the top. I tipped the corn into a large sieve and rinsed it in cold water as I like to get rid of any salt and other additives that might be in the water when I use tinned vegetables.

The colour is bright yellow and the kernels were intact. I had half expected to find a few shells but this wasn't the case.

I must admit that I did fish out two pieces that had brown marks on them but it didn't put me off the product. (I am very easily put off food by this kind of thing!)

Compared to the Jolly Green Giant corn that I have used before, this is just as good. There's also a difference of over 50p in the two brands. Okay, the branded one is a slightly larger tin but only 15g heavier.

The Smartprice Corn is far superior to the frozen kind that can be a bit dry and often has very tiny pieces.

I use sweet corn in sandwiches with tuna or as a vegetable with a main meal and my favourite meal is grilled gammon, jacket potatoes and sweet corn. This sweet corn is very sweet, juicy and succulent.

Asda Smartprice products are easy to find in the store because of their distinctive green and white labelling. The range is designed to save money but still give good quality and it certainly does.

I am certainly a convert and will stick to the Asda Smartprice variety from now on. It is amazing what super quality this is for the price I paid, but that does apply to many Asda Smartprice products.

Summary: excellent value money saver

No point in saying how much it cost because prices are changing so quickly.
