Sweetcorn isnt the most exciting item in the world to write a review on I must admit, but I shall make a valiant attempt to try and extol its virtues in this write up about Asda Smart Price Sweetcorn.

The can isnt the most dazzling on the market as you can see from the picture above. It is a basic, no frills design that wont jump out at you from the shelf but for me its a must have product that I buy every week.

Unlike other brands who add salt and sugar to artificially enhance the flavour Asda simply give you a tin of Sweetcorn and water nothing else, so you dont have any hidden calories within this product. A 1/4 can serving will provide you with:

53kcals
1.6g protein
10.1g carbs
2.5g of which sugars
0.7g fat
0.2g of which saturates
1.4g fibre

So clearly a good source of fibre and protein, low in calories and one of your five-a-day. Sweetcorn has a variety of uses aswell, either served hot or cold as a vegetable accompiament to a meal or mixed into a salad, there are plenty of uses for these little kernels of corn.

Personally I add this to nearly everything I cook, especially curries, bologneses and pasta dishes, it bulks out a meal and provides a tasty addition.

There are many brand alternatives available but I would advise you to check the contents, as, like I say some have added salt or sugar. Thats why for me I go for the Asda Smart Price variety and at only 34p a can it works out about the third of the cost of the leading brand name.

I started this review by saying sweetcorn wasnt the most exciting thing in the world, but when you consider what it can be used for, the benefits of eating it and the cost of a tin its a great addition to your storecupboard.

5/5 stars from me, cant beat it for for value for money. Being an Asda branded product it is only available from Asda themselves, found on the tinned vegetable aisle and priced 34p for a 326g can.

Summary: see review, thanks for reading
