Smart price food is not renowned for its impressive packaging. It certainly does not stand out on the shelf as the most appetising option. But the price outweighs this factor and at the end of the day the tin is going to end up in the recycling. Although the packaging is plain, it is important to note that it does include all the vital i...more

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Beans and Sausage: nice beans, shame about the sausages (184 words)

This is an interesting product. On the one hand it takes normal Asda beans and then adds sausages to them, so I should break the review into two parts. The beans look great - nice and red, thick sauce, sumptuous beans, none of which are black. They cook easily, and when heated don't congeal like some other brands. When hot, they taste great - not too hard or too soft: perfect. Serving suggestions: you can't beat beans on toast for a snack or light meal that gives you some heat (perfect in the winter). They also go really nicely with a baked potato. The sausages, on the other hand, are awful. They're those sort of hot-dog sausages (I ...  Read the complete review

I will probably get a bit of a shafting for reviewing this product but I just can't help liking it. These baked beans and sausages in tomato sauce are available from Asda and will cost you around 35p (I say 'around' because I'm not 100% sure how much it costs because it's part of my weekly shop now so I don't tend to look at the price!) for a 420g tin. Inside the tin you will find eight small sausages which are about the size of a baby finger and these are mixed with beans. I normally buy the Asda Smartprice beans because I find them much better than heinz or any other shop brand beans. The beans in this tin are pretty much the same in that they ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Beans and Sausage: Not too bad considering the price (615 words)

When I was little my mam would occasionally give us tinned beans and sausages with our meal, and when stocking up on tinned food recently, I decided to try a tin of the ASDA smart price version, for old times sake! I went for these over other brands simply because they were cheapest, and like many people I am trying to save money on my food shopping right now. The product is basically a tin of baked beans which includes eight little pork sausages in a tomato sauce. The beans and sausages come in a standard 420g tin, which is very plain - simply green and white, with a picture of the product in a bowl. On opening the tin, the contents ...  Read the complete review

You know how the smell of a certain food can spark a memory or a certain time in your life. Well every time I smell baked beans and sausages it takes me straight back to my childhood. We used to go camping every year when I was young. For quite a lot of the time we would have beans and sausages, as they were quick and easy to make on the gas burner. I can still remember now how delicious the sausages were but being shared between a couple of us, it was always a treat to find a sausage in amongst the beans. I'm older now and have two children of my own. Unyet funnily one of their favourite quickie snacks is baked beans and sausages on toast. I offer them the ...  Read the complete review
