Advantages: Great taste, reasonable price, well packaged, taste like more expensive brands.

Disadvantages: Could do with being more chocolatey.

Bourbon Biscuits are two oblong dark chocolate biscuits with a chocolate fondant filling. Asda Smartprice Bourbon biscuits taste just like more expensive brands that I have tried out and they come in white & green plastic with heat sealed ends that can be a little tricky to open. I usually just cut the end open and pour the entire packet in to my biscuit barrel and there are lots of biscuits for just 23p (200g packet). The biscuits are quite long and although there are a few broken ones they are still fine to eat. The biscuit layers are crunchy and taste quite chocolatey. They are well made with some little holes pierced in them to stop them breaking up when being made. The fondant layer is lovely and creamy and I sometimes take the two layers apart and each them separately. These biscuits dunk well and do not break up, they soak up tea very well and taste even better when dunked in to any sort of hot drink, particularly hot chocolate.

I have eaten quite a few different brands of bourbon biscuits over time and if you put these in your biscuit tin I am sure that nobody will notice any difference or comment on them at all. They are lovely and crunchy with a soft centre and I could happily eat a few of these at a time but I have to limit myself because there is 65 calories and 2.9g of fat per biscuit so it is quite high but then it is a biscuit so what should I really expect?! These are well packaged and very tasty, the price is reasonable and they look fairly presentable when giving them to guests. I am rating them 4/5 and have knocked off one star because I would have liked them to taste just a little more chocolatey.

Summary: A fantastically priced bourbon biscuit with a fondant centre. Yum!
