Advantages: They dunk well
Disadvantages: Not too much chocolate taste
These are definitely dippers!!
Right the fact that I love Bourbons in general could mean I could be a little biased in what I say about these.
I am afraid I didn't count these, so I can't say for certain how many are in there, but there are enough for me in a pack for one sitting with a cup of tea (or coffee or hot chocolate). Okay, that might be a little greedy, perhaps these will last an afternoon.
So what to expect? the packaging is basic, in the typical and recognisable green and white of the Asda smartprice image. But hey who cares about the packaging?? What are they like?
Well after you have struggled getting the packaging open, and you have your drink ready, you get the first biscuit out. And it looks just like any other chocolate bourbon - two slices of chocolate brown biscuit with chocolate fondant inbetween. Stop looking, just dunk!
Now if you are an experienced dunker you will know that there is a period of time that the biscuit will remain in the drink, before it crumbles, making both biscuit and drink useless. Some biscuits need a quick in-out, which is just not worth it. Some can be left to soak up a decent amount of coffe or whatever, and become meltingly soft, without falling into your drink or all over your lap in the journey from mug to mouth.
I am pleased to say that these only need a quick dunk to soak up a softening amount of drink, but not too long, it will crumble.
The taste is not too sweet, but is also not overly chocolatey. They are best described as tasting 'cheap', but not nasty. They do the job of filling that afternoon gap, and give you that little lift to get you through the working day.
Summary: A nice cheap filler to help you through the afternoon.
