Advantages: tastes lovely
Disadvantages: goes a bit dry
Asda smart price swiss roll is delicious.
It is wrapped in a basic plastic wrapper, no frills or fancy bits but that helps to keep the price down which is great but be aware that you will easily squash this cake wholst shopping if not careful so dont put it at the bottom of your trolly, in the bottom of a shoping bag or under anything in your boot or you will have squashed swiss roll.
This cake is made from a flat thin piece of chocolate sponge and cream, the cream is spread all over one side of the sponge then the sponge is rolled to make the swiss roll.
The sponge on this cake is chocolate flavoured which is strong enough to be nice but not too strong to make it sickly, the sponge is light, fluffy and moist unlike other cheap brands we have tried.
The cream is artificial which i love as it doesnt have the sour taste of real cream which compliments the sponge lovely as although the sponge is chocolate flavoured it isnt very sweet but the cream gives it just the right amount of sweetness. The cream is very thick but tastes great, I could eat it all day.
There is only one thing I have found to be a slight prolem with this cake, that is that if you dont use it all it does go a bit dry no matter what I have tried but even after this it still tastes great with a bit of custard to moisten it again.
Summary: a great pudding
