Advantages: Very cheap; Delicious chocolate cake and nice cream filling

Disadvantages: None

When my mum did an online shop at Asda last week she brought loads of the Smart Price stuff to try because she's signed up for a challenge to replace some of our weekly shopping with the proper cheapo supermarket brands. There's 5 of us in the house and we've all got a bit of a sweet tooth and my mum worked out that loads of the shopping money every week was going on Mr Kipling cakes and brand name chocolate and stuff and because this food isn't essential she'd been trying to make the biggest savings here.

One of the things she tried was this chocolate swiss roll that was only 13p and I reckon it's brill for such a pathetic little price.

The sponge is chocolate and it tastes like it's good quality and even though it's a bit lighter than other swiss rolls it tastes like it should cost more than 13p. It's nice and soft and went wicked with a pot of custard that my mum made.

Inside it's a vanilla flavoured filling and that's proper nice and goes good with the chocolate cake because it's nice and creamy and has got a wicked sugary flavour. You can taste the vanilla in it but not much but that's ok with me because the chocolate cake tastes quite rich and I reckon another strong taste would spoil it.

We shared the cake between 4 of us because my little sister was in bed by the time we got it out and you don't get a very big piece each but the flavour is rich enough that it will still satisfy us for something sweet after our tea.

We all liked it because of different things, I liked the whole cake and thought it was as good as any other swiss roll and my dad enjoyed it because it was so chocolatley. My mum and sister both liked the creamy filling because it was so sweet and them 2 are deffo the worst in the house for their sweet tooth.

Summary: A Proper Cheap Cake That Is Loads Better Than You Think It Will Be
