Tip the mixture into a bowl. * Push your crumpets into the beaten egg mix turning them over a few times so that they soak up the mixture. * Heat a little butter in a pan and add the crumpets. Cook them for a few minutes until slightly golden, then turn them over once and cook them the same on the other side. I have also added chopped coriander before which was yummy. Premium Review Asda Smartprice Crumpets: Beat the credit crunch with a yummy breakfast with a twist! (413 words)

Well a crumpet is a crumpet as far as I'm concerned, I have tried many different varieties in the past and the only difference I have found is that the Asda crumpets are slightly thinner than a more expensive crumpet. However at just 35p for a pack of 6 I am really not bothered about a few millimeters! Ingredients (very accurate, the list is taken from the product information at www.asda.co.uk): Wheat Flour , Water , Raising Agents (Sodium Bicarbonate, Diphosphates) , Spirit Vinegar , Yeast , Salt , Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid) , Preservative (Potassium Sorbate) . There are 129 calories and 0.9g of fat per 2 crumpets. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Crumpets At A Smartprice! (464 words)

As I have mentioned in a few of my reviews I am trying my best to cost save at the moment having only recently got back to work after six months off and trying to go away on holiday in a couple of weeks. Money is a little tight and it is for this reason that I am currently attracted to anything cheap in the supermarkets, especially if it can go in the freezer and last a few days. A packet of 6 of these Asda Smartprice Crumpets are available for 35p from Asda stores or asda.co.uk and these are over half the price of the more expensive brands available in the same store. Each crumpet has 67 calories & 0.3g of fat per crumpet so these really ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Crumpets: Lovely crumpets (343 words)

So far I haven't had the best experience with ASDA Smartprice products and at first I was not too sure if I should try the Smartprice crumpets or not - after all they are only 6 pence per piece. Thank god I did give it a try; they are absolutely delicious, soft with a lovely texture and of course incredibly cheap. The crumpets come in a small pack of 6 pieces for 36 pence all together. They are a bit thinner than other (more expensive) brands, but they surely have the same lovely pale golden colour. Depending on how crispy you like your crumpets they take roughly 1 minute in the toaster and maybe 2 if they are frozen. Try to aim for a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I love crumpet (that's why I married my wife) (425 words)

In the quest to keep varying what I have for breakfast, I've been having the occasional crumpet, and I have to say I quite like them. I stay away from brand names when I am eating at a time when my mind is half asleep, and have tried all sorts of supermarket's own brands, but today Asda is the focus of my attention. Crumpets are very bland and plain tasting, and only come to life when toasted and topped with a flavoursome topping. Eating these on their own offers little or no taste. However, there are benefits in other areas. The texture is very spongy and porous. Undercook it and it will be rubbery and bouncy, so you need to get the toasting just ...  Read the complete review

I've been a student for all of two weeks now, and haven't yet managed to get used to the whole budgeting thing. I'm usually quite good at getting by on a certain amount of money, but now that I have to make sure I have enough for food, rent, clothes, washing and travel as well as what I'm used to, I'm finding it a bit difficult. I've started going to a large Asda store nearby, and while there I try to find the whatever I can for cheap. Hence, I bought Asda Smartprice Crumpets. My kitchen-mate had already bought a couple of packets of these last time we went shopping, and she raved about them, and since they were only 32p for a pack of six, I decided that it ...  Read the complete review
