Review of Asda Smart Price Garlic Baguette. The Product This review covers garlic bread from the Asda economy budget range, known as Smart Price. Along with many other supermarkets budget lines, Asda's Smart Price is a range of lower priced, simply packaged basic items. As I am restricted to a tight budget nowadays, I have been buying more and more products from supermarket own ranges. All my family enjoy garlic bread, we tend to eat it with a wide assortment of meals, my own favourite is a bowl of home made vegetarian pasta and a couple of slices of garlic bread...Yum! Asda's Smart Price garlic bread is a baguette shaped white loaf ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A garlic baguette at a Smartprice! (603 words)

Sometimes I like to just get home from work and throw something in the oven. This is usually when staples like ready made lasagne and pre prepared garlic bread come straight from the freezer in to the oven and the only washing up is a baking tray and our plates & cutlery. This is just ideal for those lazy nights and suits me down to the ground. I am fortunate enough to live by Asda, Sainsburys & Tesco (well two Tescos actually!) so the shopping in our house usually comes from a combination of the three stores and when looking for something to prepare for tea I found one of these Asda smartprice garlic baguettes lurking in the bottom of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Garlic Baguette: Brilliant!! Bargain Baguettes! (688 words)

I do like to make my own garlic bread from time to time but for convenience I often buy those ready-made baguettes that are so handy to use as they can generally be frozen and kept on stand-by until they are needed. The Asda Smart Price baguette is no exception to this, and I regularly plonk one of these little loaves into my shopping trolley when I am in my local Asda supermarket. Coming in at around the 40 pence mark or so, the little baguette contains around eight slices, I would guess. This means that it is sufficient as a little accompaniment to a main meal for me and my partner, but if I was having dinner guests I would generally pop ...  Read the complete review

I'm not a huge fan of garlic bread, but knowing I was cooking a pizza for Saturday's tea I ordered one of these cheap Garlic Baguettes from Asda as I am currently sampling the Smartprice range and wanted to see how it would fare compared to the one I usually buy from my local convenience store which is six times more expensive than the 40p I paid in Asda. It fares very well, even from the point of view of someone who doesn't particularly enjoy garlic bread. The baguette needs cooking for 14 minutes and this is just right in my opinion as after this length of time the bread is still soft but the crust has a nice crunch to it and the garlic butter ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Garlic Baguette: BARGAIN BAGUETTE (362 words)

This is a cheap Garlic Baguette from the Asda budget range. I bought this the other week and was plesantly surprised by it, and I would buy this again. It is a frozen baguette and can be found in the Garlic Bread aisle, which is often near the Pizzas. After all if you are having a Pizza, surely you should have some Garlic Bread as well?. This was 1 baguette and it cut into 9 pieces. It was only 36p, and although Asda sell 2 baguettes of their own label, which is a brand up, that will cost you 98p, so this is a slight saving. So what's this like compared to the brand up? it is much the same. I would say this Baguette is a tiny bit shorter, and not ...  Read the complete review
