This is a cheap Garlic Baguette from the Asda budget range. I bought this the other week and was plesantly surprised by it, and I would buy this again.

It is a frozen baguette and can be found in the Garlic Bread aisle, which is often near the Pizzas. After all if you are having a Pizza, surely you should have some Garlic Bread as well?. This was 1 baguette and it cut into 9 pieces. It was only 36p, and although Asda sell 2 baguettes of their own label, which is a brand up, that will cost you 98p, so this is a slight saving.

So what's this like compared to the brand up? it is much the same. I would say this Baguette is a tiny bit shorter, and not quite as plump, but there is only a tiny bit difference. The filling is nice and full of Garlic spread and Chive flakes as well. I was expecting this to have hardly and flavour to it, but there wasn't any bits of bread that didn't have the coating on it.

The packaging isn't exciting. It is a plain white wrapper with the writing in Green over it. It has the Smart Price logo on it, but who cares. this went into my freezer then unwrapped and into the oven when it needed to be cooked. I'm not label consious, and thesedays loads of people are down branding. it's good to know that it's not just boring essentials that are in the budget ranges these days.

You cook this on 200c in an oven for 15-20 minutes. I never time Garlic Bread anyway and when the outside it nice and medium brown then I will take it out regardless of the time. Although the outside is nice and crisp, the inside is moist and covered with Garlic. If i'm wanting the inside to toughen up a bit, then after i've sliced it, I will place the slices in the oven, Garlic side up and cook for a few more minutes.

A great bargain buy that is not that different than the other baguettes out there.
