I learnt something important fairly recently about grapefruit pieces, and I learnt it the hard way. You can get this in either syrup or fruit juices: you have to go for syrup. At just 50p for a 540g tin, you get a lot for your money here but beware a lot of that is the syrup. The tin is the usual basics range, and opens easily with a tin opener. Once inside the real fun begins. The tin is full of good sized pieces of grapefruit, much bigger than I actually imagined. When I was little, I remember my mum going through a phase of eating grapefruit. She'd have one for breakfast, lunch and dinner and whilst she thought this was a sure fire way to shift a few pounds, I thought she was out of her mind to even go near the stuff. As the years have passed I have developed a liking for the fruit but I hate eating them whole. I find that I end up not being able to get the flesh out of the skin without being left with a watery mess and then I can't be bothered to eat the thing which is why I occasionally buy grapefruit pieces in syrup.
