Advantages: Delicious tasting, easy to cook, simply packaging, bargain price.

Disadvantages: None

Asda Smartprice new potatoes in salted water come provided in an aluminium can with a white & green paper label which shows the nutritional information & cooking instructions which are all simple to read and the can looks very simple. It does not have a ring pull but as this is just a budget product I wouldn't really expect one.

Once I open the can with a can opener there is lots of beige coloured potatoes within water which is highly salted & to cook these potatoes I simply pour these out in to a saucepan with the salted water and then warm them through on the hob for around 6 or 7 minutes just to make sure they are well cooked throughout.

There are many potatoes within the pot and at just 49 calories and 0.1g of fat per quarter tin it's great to share a tin with my fiancé, Tom, along with some nice meat and vegetables and this makes it quite a healthy meal providing you add the correct ingredients to it. The potatoes are very soft once cooked and taste very nice, they go well with lots of meals and are a cheap staple item to keep in the cupboard for the nights when we've not been shopping or we don't have much time.

A 550g tin is 22p and this is a bargain price and cheaper than all other stores branded version so it's worth shopping around as the nearest comparable price is 29p.

I am rating these potatoes 5/5 as they taste fantastic considering they come from a can, they are a lovely addition to any meal and I sometimes cook them then cover them with butter & seasonal herbs and serve them as an accompaniment to a roast dinner which always goes down very well with company and looks like it cost more than it did!

Summary: A fantastic can of new potatoes which taste delicious.
