Asda Smartprice Pickle

Description: Manufacturer: Asda / Type: Pickles

... slightly sour but with sweetness to be found in there too. It's not any different to any other brand in my own opinion, so go Asda! I use to accompany a ham sandwich, and it must be noted that it is only any good when added to something. With no artificial colours or flavours you get the opinion that although it is rich and dark, there's nothing weird in there. All in all, a lovely addition to a sandwich or the like, and just as good as the leading brand....more

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Pickle: I'm in a bit of pickle here (314 words)

I am a firm believer that supermarket's own brand products are usually just fine, and where could this be more obviously likely than with Asda's own sweet pickle? Apart from the label on the jar, pickle seems to be much the same the world over does it not? Well we shall see! At around 25p for a 290g jar, this is the stuff of bargains, and I was really happy to see the jar is clear, so you can have a look in and see that all appears well inside too. The jar is made of thick glass, with a metal screw-top lid. This is a very sturdy design, and keeps your pickle well protected inside! Looks wise, the pickle is dark and rich brown in colour. ...  Read the complete review

It has the Asda Smart Price branding on the jar. For those of you who don't know, Smart Price is the budget brand of Asda. This has a screw top lid which is easy enough to ...  Read the complete review

We started off buying this pickle but when my hubby and I went on a hardcore diet, we realized that Branston contained less sugar than this version so swapped. We have recently pulled in the reins on our shopping budget and decided that we'd go back to this stuff which is why I am reviewing it today! The pickle cost 25p for a 290g jar and it is part of the Smartprice range at Asda. The chunks are slightly smaller than the Branston pickle but I don't mind this because it fit's better into a sandwich. The one thing I did notice is that the pickle is a bit runnier than Branston but if you weren't loyal to Branston then you wouldn't notice ...  Read the complete review
