Taste: Firstly on opening the pack it does slightkly stick to the rolls so its a bit messy and you end up losing a bit of the sponge!! They are fresh and tasty but I feel that the vanilla flavouring overpowers the jam filling. You cant really be sure that its raspberry as there is hardly any of this included. Overall: For a cheap alternative and may...more

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Raspberry Swiss Roll: Not worth the 13p it costs (196 words)

With a product like this you know there will be no surprises. For 13p, what you expect you get, and what you expect is something pretty crappy but very sweet. First up, the roll itself is quite moist, and certainly not noticeably poor. That was my first worry, so it's all good there. The main thing is this is just so sweet - like a lot of cheap sweet products, they pour the sugar in and hope it's OK. The result is it's like eating mouthful after mouthful of sugar - very very sweet and not at all tasty. What I mean is it's just overpowering sweet. The jam included is minimal - a small spreading, and to be honest it's overpowered by the sugar anyway, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review You can't go wrong at 13p! (444 words)

I'm all for a good bargain so when I saw Asda were selling these Raspberry swiss rolls for just 13p I had to buy one. I have tried the chocolate ones that they do and was pretty impressed so thought these would be just as good. I usually shop online which can be annoying sometimes when things look a good size on the screen infront of you but when they arrive they are the size of a pea. I remember being bitterly disappointed when the chocolate one arrived because it was considerably smaller than I thought it would be so when I ordered this one I knew what to expect. It's only around ten inches in length and it's quite thin too. The wrapper covers up ...  Read the complete review

I have never tried these Asda Swiss rolls priced at 13p a roll! I've seen them of course on many occasion within the store but always simply dismissed it, till this afternoon when I decided to try one! The Packaging.... Clear, white and lime green plastic tube shaped wrapper which you can see the Swiss roll through. On the front in matching coloured writing I'm told it is Asda 'Smart Price' Raspberry Swiss Roll and that it is suitable for Vegetarians. Other information on the wrapper includes ingredients and allergy advice is along with nutritional values, storage information, contact details for Asda are also listed and finally there is a bar-code ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review For 13p you can't argue (476 words)

What I love about shopping at Asda is the ever increasing variety of smart priced products. Ever since I was at Uni, my tight budget meant I practically lived off the stuff. With money becoming an every increasing worry in the days of the dreaded 'credit crunch', I find myself reverting to the shopping habits of my student days. Walking round the aisles of my local asda I always fill my trolley with lots of smart price bargains and without fail I always pick up a couple of these swiss rolls as a treat. What first drew me to them was the price - a whopping 13p for quite a fair sized cake. I thought for that price you couldn't really argue. Like ...  Read the complete review

This afternoon the guys and gals at work wanted some snacky type food. With not many pennies to my name I picked a few bits and pieces and then came across the raspberry mini rolls for 30p. You cant really go wrong for that price but this was my experience: Packaging: There are 6 sponges filled with a raspberry and vanilla flavouring.
