Advantages: Taste very nice
Disadvantages: A bit watery.
I sometimes buy these for my little one. It makes a change from the boring old 'Straight' spaghetti that they do and I quite like the novelty of having hoops instead as well.
The loops cost me 14p from Asda and come in the standard embarressing Smartprice packaging. I think this packaging is getting less and less embaressing to have in your trolley these days as a lot of people go back to basics because they can't afford much else.
The actual loops are a pretty good size and pretty substantial. I was hoping that I could get Noah to put a few on his little finger and get over his silly phobia of getting his hands dirty but that didn't work. He enjoyed trying to catch them on his fork and spent ages 'Fishing' which can be a problem when we are in a rush! I really enjoy threading them onto my chips and eating a chip covered in a load of loops.
The sauce is a bit watery but has a film of thickness around the top of the tin like a yogurt normally does. I wouldn't say its as watery as.........water though and for the price you pay I suppose you can't expect much more. I do find that I have to be a little careful when I pour the loops onto a plate as the juice tends to rotate around the side and taunt me with the prospect of it falling onto our cream carpets before I get to the table.
I find that if I have these on toast, the juice soaks very nicely into the bread and you get a nice soggy mess which I really enjoy.
I think these taste really great and if you can over the the fact that the juice isn't quite the right consistency then you will be saving yourself a few pence. My son really enjoys them and they so do I and I'd recommend that you give them a go, after all it's only 14p down the drain if you don't like them.
Summary: I have a few of these tins in my cupboard.
