I much prefer Spaghetti to Beans, and when I buy tinned Spaghetti, I often plump for either the kids shapes, or the Loops. Not that i'm a messy eater, but I find that with Spaghetti Strands they can somtimes slop over your toast and I can end up with a smear around my mouth, so I prefer little shaped things - there I said it!
This is from the Asda budget range which is called Smart Price. I like quite a few things from this range, and although the packaging isn't that exciting, it's what inside that counts.
The tin doesn't have a ring pool opener, so time to dig out the tin opener. The label that is around the tiin is mostly white with the Light green colouring of the Smart Price branding. There is a picture of a Spaghetti hoop and it looks lightly coated in Tomato Sauce.
This 400g tin cost me a bargain 14p. For that price I wasn't expecting too much, but since budget tins of Beans cost around 8p and I knew what they were like, then I wasn't sure why these were dearer. It's not that I grudge the difference in price, but I would have thought they would be the same price, but who knows.
When I put this into a Pan to cook I saw that the Tomato Sauce looked pretty watery and a very light orange colour. There was plenty of Hoops in here and they were a decent size. When cooked on the hob the Sauce thickened up slightly, but was still pretty runny.
I liked these how they were as the Sauce soaked into my Toast well, and the Hoops still kept a light coating of Tomato Sauce. I woudln't have said no to a more tangy Tomato taste, but I knew from the price this wasn't going to be the same taste as Heinz.
A great budge buy with a nice suble but good flavouring.
