... bottle and you can see the tomato ketchup inside which I was relived to see was a great Heinz looking colour. ==== The Bottom Test ==== I always remember from my childhood my Mum and Dad tapping the bottom of the glass bottle and waiting for that lovely plop sound as the ketchup hit my plate and I was expecting this to be the same but as sound as I tipped the bottle I found that this ketchup came out very easy in fact a little too easy and I found that this made it hard to get the right amount on the plate. ====...more

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Tomato Ketchup: Not As Smart As Heinz (431 words)

Because my mum is on a bit of an economy drive we are all having to try loads of Asda Smart Price food because she's read online that a lot of their stuff is as good as the branded versions that cost a lot more. I could have killed her when I saw she'd brought Smart Price ketchup because in my whole life I've only ever eaten Heinz and love it so much that I have even poured it on my meat at teatime because I love the taste when it mixes with the gravy. The bottle is loads bigger than the Heinz one we usually buy and my mum said it was only 38p and that's a massive saving if it's any good because we buy ketchup every single week. It's a bit ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review May be smart in price but is certainly not smart in taste (523 words)

We get through a lot of tomato ketchup in my house, especially my husband who seems to add it to absolutely everything. As it's good for you and supposedly increases the sperm count ;-), I don't mind him eating so much of the stuff. The only problem is that he gets through so much of it that it ends up costing us a small fortune! I only occasionally buy Heinz if I find it on offer and our usual ketchup is the Asda make. However, when I was shopping a couple of weeks ago, I had a look at the price difference in all the ketchup brands and this Asda Smart Price ketchup, at only 40p for 550g, seemed way better value even than the normal Asda version which costs 82p for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Tomato Ketchup: Read my saucy review! (320 words)

Just the other day on a trip to Asda, I was talked into economising by my good friend who insisted that many of the Asda smart price items were as good or almost as good as the big named and well known products. I have not had the time to try many of the things I bought but already I don't hold out much hope for the others after trying the smart price tomato ketchup. I am very much a Heinz girl when it comes to tomato ketchup although I have to admit that I can and do use the Branstons version too. Both the Branstons and the Heinz are thick and very, very tasty, however the smart price version from Asda lacked both the taste and the consistency of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I Wanna Ketch You Up! (524 words)

This is my first food related review the reason I have never written a food one is down to the simple fact that I dont think that I could really do justice and write a foodie review. The reason that I have chosen to do this one is because in these tough times when many of us are economizing many peoples shopping budgets have to be reduced and many people are choosing to buy a brand down. I personally said that the one thing that I would not change was my usual Heinz tomato ketchup and then my husband did the shopping and produced a bottle of Asda's smart price tomato ketchup and here is what I thought. ==== The Product ==== The ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Asda Smartprice Tomato Ketchup: Smartprice or false economy? (446 words)

I was given a bottle of Asda's Smartprice Tomato Ketchup to try after mentioning to a friend about all the success I've had recently using cheap supermarket 'value' products. She gushed about how wonderful it is for 25p a bottle but I wasn't convinced as I love my Heinz Ketchup and nothing I've tried before ever comes close to it. This comes in a glass bottle with easy to use metal screw cap, it has an awful label even by no-frills standards and I am not sure why a white and green label offends my eyesight so much but it really is horrible. I had a bacon sandwich for my lunch today and decided to try this out for the very simple reason that I had ...  Read the complete review
