Advantages: Cheap as chips! boom boom
Disadvantages: None
When it comes to food I'm a bit of a skinflint and hate to spend more than neccessary to get a good meal on the table. To this end I enjoy trying supermarket budget ranges to see what are passable and what should be avoided to ensure the pennies are saved each week.
Asda Smart Price products can be a bit hit and miss, though the prices are so low its worth trying most of them to see whats crap and what isnt, if you buy something that costs only 20p and dont actually think its much cop you havent really lost much.
Asda Smart Price ketchup is one of the good buys, the last bottle I bought about a month ago cost something in the region of 32p for a 550gr bottle and has lasted quite well. The ketchup itself is packaged in a glass screw top bottle with the usual basic Asda Smart Price green and label, its normally located towards the bottom of the aisle so you might have to search a bit for it.
The ketchup is neither thick or runny, it's just the right consistency for dunking your chips in or for serving with piping hot sausage rolls (as we did this evening, yum) The sauce unlike Heinz doesnt take a year to come out of the bottle and doesnt need someone with huge biceps to give the bottom a slap to get the contents out.
