Advantages: Low price
Disadvantages: Strong vinegary taste
Last afternoon i wanted to buy Heinz Organic ketchup but sadly i can't afford to buy it like i used to weeks ago. Popular brands are too expensive, especially with how the economy is going. I spotted Asda value ketchup and i can honestly say i couldn't believe it it would be any good
Ketchup contains glucose syrup, sugar, spirit vinegar, modified maize starch, salt, citric acid, spices, onion extract and no preservatives at all. Prepared with 102g of tomato per 100g.
100 g contains:
Energy - 120 Cals
Protein - 1.0g
Carbohydrate - 29.0g
Fat - Trace
Fibre - 1.0g
Sodium - 1.0g
Ketchup comes in a standard shape bottle made of clear glass. You can turn the product upside down to make it go out easier. Product has very basic and unattractive design. Personally, i prefer squeezy bottles but these one are fully recyclable therefore more environmentally friendly. I found it hard to get ketchup out of the bottle. I normally shake it well with the cap closed and open it slowly with care ( otherwise it will pop out). Store this sauce in a cool place away from direct sunlight and keep in the fridge once opened. Keep out of out of children's reach.
The sauce is very rich in tomato and thick. Ketchup is not too sweet but too sour for me. The colour of the ketchup itself is red. It smells nice but not like pure tomatoes. It has a strong vinegary taste and makes my tounge tingle for a while. It is still better than watery Daddys sauce and i use it as a base for almost any family meal which needs a lot of tomato flavour. Tastes almost perfect mixed with mayonnaise and mustard and then served with hot frankfurters.
Ketchup costs appr. 30P and in comparison to Heinz it's a bargain . I would recommend it as it is cheap and tasty, great choice if you are on tight budget.
