Advantages: Tastes ok
Disadvantages: A bit runny; Too sweet
Because my mum is on a bit of an economy drive we are all having to try loads of Asda Smart Price food because she's read online that a lot of their stuff is as good as the branded versions that cost a lot more. I could have killed her when I saw she'd brought Smart Price ketchup because in my whole life I've only ever eaten Heinz and love it so much that I have even poured it on my meat at teatime because I love the taste when it mixes with the gravy.
The bottle is loads bigger than the Heinz one we usually buy and my mum said it was only 38p and that's a massive saving if it's any good because we buy ketchup every single week.
It's a bit thinner than brand name ketchup but its got a nice red colour that makes it look richer than the thinness would make you think. You have to be careful not to pour too much out because it's so thin or else you'll end up spoiling your butty because there's nothing worse than a perfect bacon sarnie that has been ruined by too much red sauce.
The taste of the sauce is a bit sweeter than I would like it to be but then it hasn't got the horrible vinegary taste I had been expecting because when we were on holiday we stayed in a hotel that had got a red sauce by a company called Corona and that was proper vinegary and watery tasting. This one doesn't taste that much different to Heinz but like I said the flavour is sweeter and I don't think the taste of it is as strong and yummy.
I definatly don't think it's as nice as Heinz but I can't say why not because there's nothing that stands out as being very different apart from it being sweet. I didn't think it was as good on my bacon butty and because the flavour isn't as strong when I had it with sausage I couldn't taste the sauce much and that spoiled it for me because I prefer the thick savory taste of the usual Heinz ketchup because even though it doesn't exactly taste of tomatoes at least it has got a stronger tomato flavour.
I reckon if you need to save money then you could buy this but it's not as nice as Heinz so for saving some money you are going to sacrifice the flavour but that's like anything really.
Summary: OK If You're Desperate To Save Money But Not Great
