Advantages: Tasty, very easy to make!
Disadvantages: Not as fresh as a home made sauce would be, not as spicy as it says,.
We love curries and normally I make mine from scratch, but with my husbands working hours sometimes its so much easier to grab a jar of pre mixed sauce especially when its something liek Thai Green Curry which would cost a lot to make from scratch and would be complicated, but this is just £1 for a 315g jar.
I like to make home made meals rather than eating frozen ready meals and boxed meals, and although this sauce is pre mixed I like it because you can add your own bits to it if you like, and you can use whatever meat you like.
I recommend either prawns, fish or chicken with this particular jar of sauce which is a mix of coconut, coriander, lemon grass and lime leaves. I didn't think I'd like it to be honest when my husband picked it up, but I like to try things like this so I know what I like and what I don't like. And when I first tried it I was pleasently surprised.
One thing I will say though, on the front of the sauce mix, it says this is of medium heat, its not, and as far as I was aware it had barely any spice, but was still scrummy.
Its extremelly simple to make, basically cook your chicken or fish in a shallow pan with a small amount of cooking oil until browned or cooked through. Add this sauce and simmer gently for 20 minutes and then serve with rice, pasta, potatoes or whatever else you feel like!
The jar contains 125kcal and serves 2-4 so is quite nutritional, and if your using a nice healthy lean cut of meat or fish with the sauce then you are getting quite a nice healthy meal!
The sauce tastes very nice, and yes it would taste nicer using fresh ingredients I am not going to lie, but for a nice quick meal, with new tatses, and something relitively cheap, its a great idea for a quick meal for those who don't have time to make these meals from scratch but don't want to be eating boring meals!!
Summary: A great meal idea for those who like trying new tastes but might not have the time to make them!
