Advantages: Distinctive crunchy crust

Disadvantages: None

Yummy Asda Tiger bread, I wondered where it got it's strange name from. This well loved white bloomer originated in the Netherlands where it is called Tijgerbood with its distinctive markings. It was introduced to England by Asda a few years ago and it is certainly not and endangered species. Once the other supermarkets found out how good it was, they all made a natural habitat for it. It must be said however that the life expectancy of the individual loaf is not good, 20 minutes max!

The lovely crunchy crust is made by coating the loaf with rice paste before it's cooked. Its soft luscious white flesh has sesame oil in it. Eat it with chunky tasty cheese and pickle or make doorsteps out of it to have with a barbecue of picnic. Eat it with friends. Eat it when you are on your own, piled high with naughties (you all know what I mean). At about 90p a loaf it's a little treat that everyone can afford.

Summary: Hunt down a loaf at Asda
