Advantages: Tasty if cooked correctly
Disadvantages: Often burnt on the bottom
Tiger bread is a product which I'm completely undecided as to whether I like it or not.
I always have to check the loaves at Asda before choosing one. If the bottom of the loaf is black they taste absolutely foul, but if it's cooked right it's a lovely tasting soft bread.
Tiger bread is made with seasame oil, and has a rice paste brushed on the top before it's baked. Which makes the loaf two toned and is the reason why it's called tiger bread.
When it's cooked properly I prefer it to say a french stick, because the bread in between the crusty outer layers is soft and doughy, rather than dry and airy as some breads can be. I usually buy the french stick shaped loaves, although Asda also do it in bun shape.
Unfortunately the packaging doesn't give any information on nutritional values, so I can't relay then to you.
The bread isn't the cheapest of the in store bakery breads, but in our local Asda store at least, 10p from every loaf sold is donated to the Sumatran Tiger Trust, which is my son's favourite charity, so we don't mind doing our bit to help the tigers.
Summary: One 3 stars because often it tastes awful.
