Advantages: hold together well in milk - nice flavour and texture

Disadvantages: none

I rarely buy any food that isn't a supermarket own brand as I find that they are normally just as good as their more expensive equivalent.

I used to shop at Sainsbury but recently changed to asda after some problems with their delivery service. So I have been trying all the Asda own brands to see what they are like.

The Asda Wheat Bisks really are very nice. I buy them for my children and often have them myself. We are quite traditional in our tastes and usually stick to eating them with milk and sugar.

I usually buy the 24 pack and you get two sealed packs inside the box as you would with the better known brand. They are quite messy to get out of the box as you do get quite a bit of dust but this is usual with this style of cereal. The biscuits are tightly packed and stay together well even when covered in milk. I haven't tried them with warm milk as I can't stand soggy cereal but with cold milk they stay quite crunchy for a while and don't instantly turn to mush like some other brands I have tried. I did notice that they are quite brown in colour whereas I am used to them being lighter but this doesn't after the taste or quality.

I actually prefer the taste and texture of these to some other brands I have tried because it is less crumbly and has a nice flavour. I think the flavour is a little stronger than the well known brand but it is very nice.
I haven't tried them with anything other than milk or sugar but I'm sure they would be just as tasty with yoghurt or chocolate milk or whatever you want to try.

I don't eat these very often but my children have them almost every day and they seem to enjoy them. They can be quite fussy and won't eat some of the supermarket brands.

They also contain iron (32.1% rda) and folic acid (36.5% rda) so these are good to eat when you are pregnant.

The 24 pack is currently available from Asda for £1.15 and a box of 48 is £2.00 so they really are much better value for money.

Summary: Better than the original
