Regular readers of my review may know that I am an avid chocolate/ice cream fan and anything that involves chocolate and ice cream is just perfect for me. I usually purchase Askeys sauces and I love to have lots of different ones to choose from. Also, I have nieces and nephews who love nothing more than a sauce with their helping of ice cream. Generally I save these sauces as a nice treat and this cracking chocolate chunk one has got to be one of my favourites available. This Askeys is the ice cream equivalent of Orangina as you should 'shake it to wake it' by violently shaking the bottle around for a good 30 seconds (ensure the lid is on first ... My children love ice-cream so sometimes I like to give them a treat by allowing them to have a bowl of ice-cream for their pudding. However I am not that bothered by the stuff so I like to put something else with it so that it tastes alright. Most of the time I try to use fresh or tinned fruit so that I can feel a little bit righteous about the five a day thing but sometimes I decide that since ice-cream is not so good for me I might as well make it worse! On the sinful days I tend to opt for using Askeys Crackin Chocolate Crunch. This is a chocolate sauce for adding to desserts. I used to be able to buy a mint version as well but I don't seem to ... I always remember this topping from when I was younger but I remember it as "Magic Ice" and it was in a smaller squatter brown bottle. Well I decided to treat my partner and myself and I picked up a bottle of the mint flavour. Askeys Crackin range is made by the silver spoon company and you can usually find it in all supermarkets. I was really surprised to find out that it worked just as well as I remembered because usually things seem so much better when you are a child. I squeezed out loads of sauce over my ice cream and sure enough by the time and tackled it with my spoon it was hard. We were both bust bashing away at our dessert like big kids ... I know I harp on about my youth in many of my reviews, but I have yet to decipher whether it's the fact that I am older, wiser and I have put away childish things, to coin a better phrase, or whether many of the things I enjoyed as a child are just simply put, not as good now! One of the many, many things I enjoyed communally as a child with my siblings was a product called "Ice Magic", now for anyone who is none the wiser I will briefly explain. This was a chocolate sauce that was poured (liberally!), over ice cream then after around thirty seconds set, like a sumptuous cascade of chocolate, rolling down a frozen vanilla mountain! ... I have two flavors of crackin' ice cream topping Chock 'n' orange: This has a great taste with a hint of orange and also it doesn't have too much orange in it, which is great and it also has that great chocolate taste. Choch 'n' mint: This is my favorite it has a nice cool minty taste to it and again that great chocolate taste. The sauce is like no other, once it hits your ice cream it sets around it solid and really make the ice cream taste even better. The instructions on the bottle read: Turn bottle upside down and shake like mad for 30 seconds. I can't wait this long shaking, I just wanna eat it! Each bottle contains ... Read the complete review
