Advantages: It's tasty, sweet!

Disadvantages: Maybe bad for you! lol

To be honest I'm a savoury girl at heart but now and then my sweet tooth attacks and I just have to have something sweety for dessert! For me though you can't beat a simple bowl of ice cream with a sweet tasty sauce poured, yes poured not drizzled over the top!

Whilst in sainsburys the other day I picked up a tub of their vanilla ice cream and browsed the shelf full of ice cream goodies, you know the ones, sprinkles, wafers and last but not least, sauces!

I was met by a few bottles of Askeys dessert sauce, they came in a variety of flavours including chocolate and strawberry, they even had their own bottle of golden syrup but I decided to purchase the toffee flavour.

The sauces come in the same blue curved plastic bottles with a flip lid, it's just the colour theme that differs depending on the flavour. The toffee flavour comes in the dark cream coloured bottle. The bottle clearly says Askeys in a funky, white drizzled look writing. It then says Treat! Toffee flavour dessert sauce, with a smiley cheeky star at the bottom swirling a wand. It also tells us on the bottle that this sauce is Free from artificial colours, flavourings and preservatives. The idea of the sauce is to 'create a little magic' too, hence the stars wand!

100g of this sauce contains;
319 calories
1.8g fat
1.6g protein
76g carbohydrate

The sauce is easy to squirt out, in fact you don't even need to really squeeze the bottle, just flip up the lid and pour the bottle upside down. The sauce is quite thick but it pours rather quickly.

The sauce is extremely sweet and sugary and has a prominent toffee taste.

You can use this to sweeten up your ice cream dishes, I would say though you don't need to use too much as it can become sickly sweet, a little of this however will liven up your icecream. You can buy many ice creams these days but the only ice cream I'll add the sauce too is plain vanilla ice cream as that can be quite boring on it's own and this sauce excites it a little.

You can also use it on pancakes which I tried for the first time yesterday, it poured over perfectly and softened them making them puffy and sweet lushness on a plate.

I usually use golden syrup on my porridge but decided to try this the other day too which sweetened up my porridge tremendously giving it that toffee edge.

The back of the bottle also tells us it can be used on rice pudding and fruit too, so I will definitely be trying this along with trying their other flavours too!

A bottle of this sauce costs roughly 98p. Not only can you buy the other flavours too but they also have a chocolate sauce that hardens when it touches your cold ice cream.

Summary: A tasty sauce that can liven up a dessert dish!
