... mega hard and crunchy, when they're cooked the stuffing balls haven't got a very nice texture because the outside is proper hard but in the middle it's sloppy and soft. The flavour is nasty. They taste proper strong of sage and that's the only thing you can taste apart from cheap sausagemeat, I don't like the flavour of these at all and I don't think they taste much like stuffing at all. There isn't any onion flavour in the stuffing balls and that's a shame and also I thought the texture of them was too meaty instead o...more

Premium Review Aunt Bessie's Sausagemeat Stuffing Balls: Disgusting Stuffing Balls (371 words)

I was cooking dinner one day last week and I remembered too late that we needed stuffing, I thought there was a box in the cupboard and there was but there was hardly any in it! I went to the shop round the corner and they didn't have any packet stuffing mixes in so i got a bag of frozen Aunt Bessies stuffing balls even though they were over £2.00 for 12 balls. The balls take for ages to cook, loads longer than the 20 minutes it said on the pack. You have to turn them halfway through cooking but even then the top goes mega hard and crunchy, when they're cooked the stuffing balls haven't got a very nice texture because the outside is proper hard but in the ...  Read the complete review

Another product from the Aunt Bessie range that makes a regular appearance into my freezer is their Stuffing Balls, and looking back on Dooyoo these have a mixed reaction to them to say the least. Firstly I have to confess that I have tried to make my own stuffing; it should be easy, yes? Take a packet of the dried stuffing mix, add water to it, mix well and bung in a hot oven and allow to cook. Except it never ever works for me, the stuffing either comes out looking like a watery mess or a thick gloopy clump that tastes disgusting. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I just can't make my own stuffing. So, bearing this is mind I do buy the pre-made ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aunt Bessie's Sausagemeat Stuffing Balls: Balls to this! (408 words)

I wouldn't usually buy frozen stuffing as making it from scratch is a very easy process and using the dried packet mixes easier still. I was curious about these when I saw them in Tesco, I've had some very good experiences with Aunt Bessies recently so popped a packet of her Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls in my trolley. A disappointment from start to finish, that's all I can possibly say about these stuffing balls. Absolutely awful. For a start they take much, much longer in the oven than it says on the packet. In fact after the recommended cooking time they looked as though they had barely been in the oven for five minutes, remaining insipid ...  Read the complete review

I was making a lovely roast dinner the other week as a special treat for my other half, and decided whilst I was in Tesco getting the vegetables and gravy etc, that some stuffing might be nice as an accompaniment to the meat. After perusing the aisle containing the packets of dried stuffing mixes, and feeling rather uninspired by them, I wondered if there was perhaps a frozen, ready-made alternative that I could use instead. I was also keen to cut down on the amount of time I would need to prepare the different elements of the meal. Amidst the frozen products I found what I was looking for - ready-made balls of "Sage and onion flavour" ...  Read the complete review
